Starwood’s Thailand growth mirrors rise in tourism market
THAILAND – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc, one of the world’s leading hotel and leisure companies, stands strong in its leadership position in Thailand’s emerging tourism market, with the launching and development of various properties across the country.
The company currently owns and operates 16 hotels in Thailand, including four Sheraton hotels, one Four Points by Sheraton hotel, one W hotel, six Le Meridien hotels, two Westin hotels and two Luxury Collection hotels.
In the upcoming years, eight new hotels will be launched in Thailand. By the end of 2011, Thailand will be the second Asia Pacific market to represent eight of nine Starwood hotel brands.
Starwood recently launched the first W Retreat in Southeast Asia and the first Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Thailand, along with the opening of W Retreat Koh Samui and Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok, Sukhumvit 15.
By the end of 2011, Starwood will launch another Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Bangkok in the Sathorn business district. The company will also introduce two new brands to Thailand this year — the St. Regis Bangkok in April and the Aloft Bangkok-Sukhumvit 11 in October.
Highly regarded Starwood properties such as The St. Regis, W Hotels Worldwide and Four Points are expected to contribute to the Thai tourism industry, making the country a front-runner in the hospitality industry and producing vital revenue for its economy for years to come.
