KLIA’s service excellence acknowledged in Skytrax 2011 World Airport Awards

MALAYSIA – KL International Airport (KLIA) service excellence was acknowledged in the Skytrax 2011 World Airport Awards, when it won the World’s Best Airport Immigration Service award. KLIA also maintained its place in the world’s top 10 airports with a 9th place finish.

The awards were presented by Edward Plaisted, Chief Executive Officer of Skytrax to Mohammad Suhaimi Abdul Mubin, General Manager of Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn. Bhd. which operates KLIA, in conjunction with The Passenger Terminal Expo held at the Bella Center, Center Boulevard 5, Copenhagen, Denmark on 30 March 2011.

“Another repeat win from the 2010, KLIA continues to maintain a high level of staff service for immigration formalities” said Edward Plaisted of Skytrax. “From the feedback we received this is not only in terms of overall service efficiency, but also the quality and courtesy of the individual staff members” he added.

He also said, “Skytrax guarantees that the World Airport Survey and World Airport Awards are totally free of any commercial influence or bias, and no airport featured in the study is able to exert any influence on the final results and the awards are globally respected and known as the Passengers Choice Awards.”

Mohammad Suhaimi said, “To win the award for the second consecutive time is absolutely magnificent. I would like to thank and congratulate the Immigration Department for their distinguished effort and support as this outstanding achievement will further enhance KLIA’s reputation. Furthermore, the survey conducted was transparent and unsolicited, while the votes were impartial and based on real experiences of travelers from across the globe, which makes this win more meaningful.”

The World Airport Awards™ are based on survey results from 11.38 million questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of airline passengers, covering more than 240 airports worldwide.

The survey evaluates travelers’ experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors – from check-in, arrivals, and transfer through to departure at the gate. Operating since 1999, the World Airport Survey is held in highest esteem for its clarity of process and rigorously applied rules of complete independence.
