Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa Awarded Best Overseas Family Resort
FIJI – Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa has been named Best Overseas Family Resort in the 2011 Luxury Travel Magazine Gold List Awards.
The annual Luxury Travel Magazine Gold List Awards are one of the most comprehensive luxury travel surveys in Australia and are widely accepted as Australia’s premier travel awards.
The awards are the result of a survey in which tens of thousands of Luxury Travel Magazine’s subscribers and readers, plus Virtuoso travelers, are asked to nominate the world’s best hotels, resorts, spas, cruise lines, golf courses, airlines and destinations, over 26 individual categories.
“We are delighted to receive this award and we are extremely proud to be named in this prestigious list as being the best overseas family resort by Luxury Travel magazine,” said the resort’s General Manager, Michael Monks.
“The Fijian people are known throughout the world for their friendly nature and for their love of children and we pride ourselves on being able to provide a fun and relaxing environment for the thousands of families that visit the resort every year. “Some of our younger guests have ‘grown’ up here on Yanuca as they have been visiting since they were very young, even babies. In some cases the children are the third generation to be our treasured guests.” Monks said.
“Since the beginning of 2010 nearly 100,000 children of varying ages have stayed in the resort which has kept our staff very busy – a job they certainly love. Monks added.
“This prestigious award is a credit to, and recognition of, all of the staff here at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa who have welcomed the children as if they were their own. Some of our very popular activities include our Earth Day Thursdays, visits to the Shangri-La Marine Education Centre and learning ‘mekes’ with the fabulous staff from our Little Chief’s Cool Zone.”
