Emirates A380 services to Munich brought forward, KL services put back
UAE-Emirates is bringing forward its first daily A380 Munich services to November 25, nearly five weeks earlier than originally announced.
Salem Obaidalla, the airline’s Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation, said the alteration follows a review of forthcoming A380 deliveries and expected demand.
The double decker was originally set to replace EK49, one of two daily services to Munich, from January 1. EK49 departs Dubai at 0910 and arrives Munich at 1245.
The announcement will raise the competitive stakes with Lufthansa, which flies from Dubai to Munich and Frankfurt – Emirates also serves the latter with double-daily flights.
As part of the A380 changes, Emirates has postponed its planned A380 service between Dubai-Kuala Lumpur by a month, and it will now start January 1 2012, according to airlineroute.net. During December, EK346/347 will continue to operate with B777-300 aircraft.
